At Grant Alexander, our commitment to solidarity is an integral part of our corporate culture<\/strong>, where it takes shape through several concrete initiatives: patronage, volunteering, long-term partnerships, and employee participation in solidarity events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We offer a hand wherever we can make a difference, with a particular focus on health, social inclusion, and helping people rejoin the workforce, both in France and abroad.

\n Solidarity patronage: combatting sickle cell disease
\r\n\n <\/h2>\n

Since 2019, we have been a patron of <\/span>\u00a0La Maison des Bien-Aim\u00e9s (LMBA)<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This endowment, created in 2018 and chaired by <\/span>Jeanne-Chantal Bonhomme<\/span>, aims to combat sickle cell anaemia in Africa and to support ill and abandoned children. <\/span><\/p>\n

It accepts donations from private individuals, companies, and other organisations and earmarks them for operational associations working in the field to detect and treat the condition and provide support for patients.<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n \n <\/div> \n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Little-known, sickle cell disease is nevertheless the world’s most common genetic disorder <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sickle cell disease \u2013 a hereditary disorder that impacts the shape of red blood cells \u2013 remains relatively unknown to the general public, but it is the number one genetic condition worldwide. Symptoms include periodic episodes of extreme pain and an increased risk of infection. While current treatments have significantly increased the life expectancy of impacted patients in some countries, like France, they remain largely unavailable in many parts of the world. So research continues to improve them or even treat the disorder at its source: where red blood cells are made. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Togo, the life expectancy of a person with sickle cell anaemia is only 18. And those who survive often require major interventions and hospitalisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concrete initiatives in the field<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Purchasing laboratory equipment to improve rates of diagnosis and roll out more screening campaigns in schools.<\/p>\n

As part of its partnership with CNRSD<\/strong>, LMBA financed the purchase of equipment in 2023. As a result, the Centre, located in Lom\u00e9, is the first site in Togo able to perform red blood cell antibody (RBC) tests to better select the red blood cells suitable for transfusion and lower the risk of the recipient\u2019s immune system attacking them.\u00a0 Since 2025, LMBA has also funded sickle cell screening campaigns in Greater Lom\u00e9 schools, in partnership with Plus Jamais La Dr\u00e9panocytose (PJLD). The first campaign, which took place from January to April 2025, aimed to screen 10,000 students, reducing the cost of tests by 70% while reaching the broadest possible audience.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
